With the variety of options available in the market, choosing the right type of shingle that provides the desired functionality, durability, and aesthetics is crucial. If you're in the market for new [roofing shingles](https://www.azulroof.com/residential-roofing/shingle-roofs/), you've likely come across the Malarkey Highlander shingle line. These shingles are a popular choice for homeowners and contractors alike, and for a good reason. They offer a durable, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing option to homeowners. In this blog post, we'll examine the Malarkey Highlander shingle line and its benefits.   ## What Are Malarkey Highlander Shingles? Traditional asphalt shingles, which are commonly used for roofing in Arizona, can have a negative impact on the environment. They are made from petroleum-based materials and can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills. Additionally, the production of asphalt shingles requires a significant amount of energy and contributes to air pollution. With the growing awareness of environmental issues, many homeowners in Arizona are now turning to eco-friendly shingles as a sustainable alternative. Enter the Malarkey Highlander NEX shingles. This shingle is a type of asphalt shingle designed for eco-friendly residential roofing applications. They are made with a fiberglass mat base and coated with a blend of asphalt and mineral granules. This construction makes them durable, weather-resistant, and aesthetically pleasing.    ## Benefits of Malarkey Highlander Shingles There are several benefits to choosing the Malarkey Highlander NEX shingles for your Arizona roofing project. The most notable benefits are environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, durability, number of color options, and warranty. ### 1. Environmental Sustainability Malarkey Highlander shingles are manufactured using recycled materials and are themselves recyclable at the end of their life span. This makes them an environmentally friendly choice for homeowners who are conscious of their carbon footprint. More impressive is the positive impact the shingles have on the environment. For every 30 squares of shingles, they divert the equivalent of ~4 rubber tires from landfill, the equivalent of ~2,900 plastic bags from landfills, and fight air pollution equivalent to planting ~2 trees. And thanks to the granules on these shingles, they actually clean the air of pollutants. ### [Request a Free Roof Inspection](https://www.azulroof.com/free-site-inspection) ### 2. Energy Efficiency These shingles come with a reflective granular surface that helps to reflect sunlight, reducing the heat absorbed by your roof. This can result in lower energy costs, as your air conditioning system doesn't have to work as hard to keep your home cool during the hot summer months. This benefit can be especially important during our hot summer months here in the Valley of the Sun. ### 3. Aesthetics This type of shingle is available in a variety of colors and styles, making them a great choice for homeowners who want to enhance their home's curb appeal. From classic shades of black and gray to more natural tones of brown and tan, you can choose a color that complements your home's architectural style and adds personality to your property. ### 4. Durability Malarkey Highlander shingles are a high-quality laminated shingle that provides exceptional protection and durability for your home. Made from a blend of asphalt and fiberglass, these shingles are designed to withstand the toughest weather conditions, including heavy rains, high winds, and hailstorms. They also have a Class 3 impact resistance rating, which means they can withstand hailstones up to 1.75 inches in diameter. Malarkey Highlander shingles also come with a 130 mph wind warranty, making them an ideal choice for properties in areas with high wind speeds. ### 5. Warranty Malarkey shingles come with a limited lifetime warranty, which covers manufacturing defects and provides protection for the life of the shingles. This warranty can give homeowners peace of mind, knowing that their investment is protected. If you are considering [replacing your roof](https://www.azulroof.com/residential-roofing/new-roofing/) or building a new home, Malarkey Highlander shingles are a great choice that can provide long-lasting value and protection for your property.
